National Joint Registry OLAP Cube Report
The team of Regional Audit Coordinators received a weekly flat file detailing for each hospital site, the number of submissions of data to the NJR central database. This information was not easy to utilise in order to assist each hospital and analyse where their potential problems were. We developed a reporting solution to assimilate weekly flat files into OLAP cube to populate an automated report. This enabled all Regional Audit Coordinators to pick the chosen SHA / Trust / Hospital and generate specific reports instantly. The solution used a central Access database to hold the weekly information; an excel report was created enabling all users to access the information and where required to distribute this without the need for all users to have Access installed. The report which used an underlying OLAP cube had automatically updating graphs and charts to show at SHA / Trust / Site level the current information and trends. The users were able to focus on key areas and identify issues early on. The cube format enabled users to drill down and analyse information by: -
The excel report also included a 2 page summary graphical report which enabled users to select the chosen hospital site / group, this then updated the report for the specified hospital in order for the Coordinator to efficiently analyse the current situation at the chosen hospital. This information could then be used for contacting the hospital and could also be quickly copied into a report to send to the hospital.
